What does sustainability mean for Scandic?

Operating a manufacturing business in a sustainable manner requires ongoing adjustments. We have implemented the following actions, and we are always looking for further improvements:

• using aqueous-based lubricants whenever possible
• containing and recycling all lubricants and solvents
• recycling all scrap metal generated in production
• setting up reusable packaging programs for our larger customers
• retrofitting motors with variable-frequency drives
• choosing servo motors for brake presses, instead of hydraulic
• installing 398 photovoltaic panels for plant-wide electrical supply
• installing motion-detecting switches for lighting
• operating major machinery between 4 a.m. and 2 p.m to use off-peak power
• staggering work hours to allow employees the most efficient commute times
