Environmentally - friendly operations make sense for Scandic and its Customers

Scandic believes in operating our business in a safe, environmentally-conscious way. It's not just good for the planet — it's also a lower-cost way of operating. Among our ongoing programs:

• We have installed a 93 kW photovoltaic system which supplies almost all our electrical needs.
• We recycle all scrap metal, sorted by alloy (3000 pounds per month)
• We installed skylights throughout our facility, lowering lighting costs and making for a more pleasant atmosphere
• Our waterjet uses a closed-loop filtration system
• All wastewater is treated with an evaporator and the small residue is sent to an authorized treatment center
• All lubricants and cleaning agents are approved for on-site neutralization and disposal
• Most motors are retrofitted with frequency drives for lower power consumption
• Flexible work hours allow employees to avoid rush hour traffic, saving fuel, time, and money
• We use hot water rinses for certain mil-spec processes, and for general handwashing. A hospital-style foot-operated valve minimizes water consumption and reminds us to be on the lookout for energy waste.
