Capabilities & Production Fast Fast Fast Prototyping! First things first: you don't always have a final design when you call us.
Even the best designers need to prove out a concept first
before giong to hard tooling.
So we are structured to turn your prototypes quickly.
Beyond prototyping, some types of parts never
justify the expense of hard tools. We have a variety of options to produce your lower-volume parts without high capital
costs. How about a tool for $500, delivered in one week? Our
"quickie die" program lets you get some of the cost advantages of hard-tooled parts.
This program is also ideal for ramp-to-production quantities before hard tooling.
We are specialists in stamping thin-gage spring materials. Scandic operates
straight sided presses up to 150 tons, with precision roll feeders and, where appropriate, carbide tooling. We also offer in-die tapping and staking, with tremendous cost savings. High-volume
parts can be reeled up on a carrier strip for later automatic placement.
One of our strengths is that we can tool a part to where fits best, on a fourslide or a punch press.
Our extensive group of fourslides can
handle your intricate stampings and wireforms.
Fourslide presses make parts from wire or strip materials. Unlike a punch press with
a single downward motion, a fourslide has a press area, a slide forming
area, and a vertical motion area. The press area is like a punch press,
with a die to perforate the metal and produce simple forms. Next, the slide
area has left/right/front/back slides to bring tooling in contact with
the work piece. Each slide is activated by a cam, with its own timing.
Last, the vertical motion can add another form or strip the part away
from the tooling.
Fourslides excel at making forms that are over 90 degrees, and in producing
parts that need forms in different planes.
Ask us about the many other
advantages of fourslide forming, including lower cost tooling; more economical
material usage; and inclusion of secondary operations (welding, staking,
assembly) in the forming process. We can tap your part automatically at high speed inside the tooling! Coiling and CNC wireforming Scandic started out making coil springs, and remains a leader in precision
wireforming. We operate machines with a wire capacity of .005" to .187".
Scandic has the largest group of coiling and CNC wireforming machine in Northern California. This technology gives the
designer new options, such as design on the fly, low-cost tooling, and
easy modification to fit changing sheetmetal or plastic. Our CNC equipment
also does 100% part checking on key features, keeping SPC data and ejecting
nonconforming parts.
